Japan's Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency (ATLA) has conducted test firings of its shipboard electromagnetic (EM) railgun against a target at sea. The tests, carried out between June and July 2025, involved a moving vessel as the target. The railgun was mounted on the JS Asuka, a research vessel of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF).
