What's Happening?
The National Research Platform (NRP) is a federally funded initiative aimed at democratizing access to artificial intelligence (AI) computing resources for higher education institutions. Led by Frank Würthwein, the NRP pools infrastructure across universities to provide affordable AI computing power. This initiative addresses the challenge faced by colleges and universities in acquiring the necessary computing resources to implement AI technologies. By leveraging a distributed computing system called the Nautilus Hypercluster, the NRP allows participating institutions to share servers and GPUs, reducing costs and enhancing research and educational capabilities.
