as valedictorian from Buena Vista High School and later earned a degree in Chemistry from Transylvania College. She supported her husband through divinity school and raised three children while moving across several states before settling in Waukegan in 1962. Wilcox worked in a federal program for mothers and was a substitute teacher for over 20 years. She was deeply involved in church activities, leading various groups and participating in social service projects. Her community engagement extended to organizations like the League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women. Wilcox is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
