What's Happening?
Andrey Koreshkov, a former Bellator welterweight champion, has been granted permission by the Professional Fighters League (PFL) to participate in the SFC 12 tournament in Russia. Despite remaining under
contract with the PFL, Koreshkov will compete in the main event at the G-Drive Arena in Omsk on December 13. The 35-year-old fighter, who holds a record of 28 wins and six losses, expressed satisfaction with the arrangement, indicating that his contract with PFL remains intact.
Why It's Important?
Koreshkov's participation in the SFC 12 tournament highlights the flexibility within the PFL's contractual agreements, allowing fighters to compete in other promotions under certain conditions. This move could set a precedent for other fighters seeking similar opportunities, potentially influencing contractual negotiations and fighter mobility within the MMA industry. For Koreshkov, the fight represents a chance to maintain competitive momentum and visibility in the sport.
