What's Happening?
Korean Air has partnered with Archer Aviation, a U.S. company specializing in electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, to pursue a military advanced air mobility (AAM) project. This collaboration aims to adapt Archer's Midnight aircraft for
military use in Korea, focusing on troop transport, medical evacuation, and search-and-rescue missions. Korean Air will lead the military conversion and systems integration, while Archer will provide technical support and airworthiness certification. The partnership is part of a strategic Korea-U.S. technology cooperation model, with plans to establish a domestic AAM airworthiness certification system.
