TotalEnergies has announced its expansion in offshore exploration by taking operatorship of Block S4 in Guyana. The company signed a production sharing contract with partners QatarEnergy and Petronas,
formalizing the award of the block under Guyana's 2022 Licensing Round. TotalEnergies will hold a 40% interest in the block, which is located in a proven hydrocarbon basin known for significant oil discoveries. The initial work program includes acquiring 2,000 km² of 3D seismic data to evaluate exploration prospects. This move aligns with TotalEnergies' strategy to explore low-cost and low-emission resources.
