A 51-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy were rescued after a three-hour ordeal at sea while paddleboarding off the coast of Melbourne. The pair, who are from the same family, set off from Portarlington caravan park on the Bellarine Peninsula on Christmas
Day. They were reported missing two hours later, prompting a large-scale search involving police, aircraft, Life Saving Victoria, and Queenscliff Coast Guards. They were eventually spotted from the air near Wyndham Harbour, more than six miles from their starting point, and rescued by water police. The Victoria Police spokeswoman noted that they were exhausted and cold but not physically injured.
