Vulcan Energy Resources has achieved a significant milestone by securing a €2.2 billion funding package for its Lionheart lithium and renewable energy project in Germany. This financial close marks a pivotal step in Vulcan's efforts to establish a carbon-neutral
lithium supply chain in Europe. The project involves extracting lithium from geothermal brine in the Upper Rhine Valley, using renewable heat from the same brine to power the extraction process. Construction has commenced at two key sites, with the aim of producing 24,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide monohydrate annually, sufficient for approximately 500,000 electric vehicle battery packs.
