What's Happening?
Park Hyatt Siem Reap has announced a collaboration with the World Monuments Fund (WMF) to support long-term conservation training at Angkor Archaeological Park. This initiative aims to equip 25 local foremen with the necessary technical skills to maintain
Angkor's historic temple complexes. The collaboration includes funding the Heritage Foreman-Training initiative through the Suzanne Deal Booth Institute for Heritage Preservation. Additionally, Park Hyatt guests will have the opportunity to engage in educational experiences at Angkor, gaining insights into traditional craftsmanship and preservation techniques. This partnership is part of Park Hyatt's broader commitment to cultural investment and responsible tourism.
Why It's Important?
The collaboration between Park Hyatt Siem Reap and WMF is significant as it supports the preservation of one of the world's most important cultural landscapes, Angkor Archaeological Park. By training local foremen, the initiative ensures that conservation efforts remain locally led, preserving technical knowledge within the community. This partnership also highlights the role of the private sector in cultural preservation, demonstrating how businesses can contribute to safeguarding heritage sites. The initiative not only benefits the local economy by providing training and employment but also enhances the cultural experience for tourists, promoting sustainable tourism practices.
