James M. Mangano, Jr. passed away peacefully in New Hampshire on June 8, 2026, at the age of 78. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Mangano had been battling a rare stroke condition, which he endured longer than most due to his strength
and willpower. He is predeceased by his parents, James Mangano, Sr. and Mena (Argentieri) Mangano, as well as his brother Philip Mangano. He is survived by his son, Christopher, and his sisters, Mary Pat Snow and Susie Mangano, along with several nieces and nephews. Mangano attended Blessed Sacrament grammar school, Aquinas and East High Schools, and graduated from the University of Rochester. He and Carol Mangano, though separated, spent 20 years raising their son in the Albany area. A Memorial Mass will be held at a future date at Blessed Sacrament Church, with interment to be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Section V Athletics.
