What's Happening?
Red 6, a hardware-enabled software company, has successfully integrated its Advanced Tactical Augmented Reality Systems (ATARS) technology with Boeing's AH-64E Apache Crewstation Advanced Technology Testbed
(CATT). This marks the first time the augmented reality flight training system is used on a rotorcraft platform. The integration allows Apache pilots to engage in training exercises that simulate near-peer adversaries and contested environments without the financial, safety, or logistical challenges associated with traditional live training. Red 6 CEO Daniel Robinson highlighted the significance of this collaboration, noting its strategic value across military aviation domains. The system overlays threat-representative scenarios onto pilots' real-world views in real-time, enabling dynamic and realistic simulations while operating the helicopter. Additionally, ATARS records flight data during sessions, creating detailed datasets for measuring pilot readiness through integrated data analysis.
