What's Happening?
The Kansas Turnpike Authority has announced a $500 million project to widen the Kansas Turnpike, which will result in higher tolls for users. The project aims to enhance traffic capacity between Kansas City and Wichita, improve roadway infrastructure,
and upgrade service areas and technology systems. The initiative is expected to take several years to complete. To fund these improvements, the KTA Board of Directors has approved a three-year toll increase, with a minimum three-percent rise for all users and a four-percent increase for commercial vehicles, effective September 1, 2026.
