What's Happening?
Pakistan's passport has been ranked as the fourth weakest globally for the fifth consecutive year, according to the Henley Passport Index 2025. The index, which evaluates 199 passports based on visa-free
access to 227 destinations, placed Pakistan at the 103rd position, sharing the spot with Yemen. Neighboring countries such as China, Iran, and India were ranked 64th, 85th, and 98th respectively. Singapore topped the index with visa-free access to 193 destinations, while Pakistani passport holders have access to only 31 countries without a visa.
Why It's Important?
The ranking highlights the limited mobility of Pakistani citizens compared to their regional counterparts, which can impact international travel and business opportunities. The low ranking may affect Pakistan's global image and its citizens' ability to engage in international trade and tourism. Countries with stronger passports, like Singapore, benefit from increased global mobility, which can enhance economic and diplomatic relations. The ranking also reflects broader geopolitical dynamics, as countries with more powerful passports often have stronger international ties and agreements.
