What's Happening?
Spain has placed an order for 18 additional Airbus Defence and Space C295 transport aircraft as part of its Air Mobility Training Technologies program. This procurement will expand Spain's fleet to 46 C295s, which will be used in transport, maritime patrol,
and surveillance roles. The new aircraft will replace the older CN235 and C212 models currently used for training pilots and paratroopers. The order is divided into two batches, with the first group dedicated to training and transport tasks at the Military Air Transport School in Salamanca, and the second group for paratrooper and cargo drops at the Military Parachuting School in Murcia. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026 and conclude by 2032.
