What's Happening?
The LOV. Foundation, in collaboration with Tel Aviv University, has launched the Israel Edition of the Right to Listen (R2L) program. This initiative redefines listening as an active practice essential for civic engagement and conflict transformation.
The program includes workshops, keynote dialogues, and cultural experiences aimed at fostering empathy and understanding through deep listening. The event features contributions from scholars, artists, and peace practitioners, emphasizing listening as a form of soft power. The launch also includes the introduction of the Alexandra Ruth Seaman Scholarship for Women, supporting future peacebuilders in conflict resolution studies.
Why It's Important?
The R2L initiative underscores the importance of listening in conflict resolution, particularly in regions with deep-seated divisions. By promoting listening as a transformative practice, the program aims to bridge cultural and political divides, fostering a more empathetic and collaborative approach to peacebuilding. This initiative could serve as a model for other regions facing similar challenges, highlighting the potential of cultural and educational programs to contribute to societal change. The scholarship component further invests in the next generation of leaders committed to peace and conflict resolution.
