What's Happening?
The Owensboro community is rallying to support Jasmine Grant, a 32-year-old local mother of four who was critically injured in a shooting earlier this year. To assist her and her children during her long recovery, B2Z Productions and Kroger on Starlite
are organizing 'Cruisin’ for Jasmine: Owensboro Strong.' This community cruise-in, fundraiser, and Christmas gift drive is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Kroger on Starlite Drive. The event will feature a display of cars, trucks, Jeeps, and motorcycles, welcoming all makes and models. Attendees can also enjoy food and drinks from vendors like Simply JoCo, Lethal Latte, and Breakfast Express, along with family entertainment provided by Dr. Popper Entertainment. The primary goal is to collect new, unwrapped toys and age-appropriate gifts for Grant's four children, aged 4, 6, 10, and 14, and to accept monetary donations to help the family with financial challenges.
Why It's Important?
This community-led initiative highlights the significant role local support networks play in times of crisis, particularly for families facing severe hardship due to unforeseen circumstances. The event not only provides tangible aid—toys and financial assistance—but also fosters a sense of solidarity and compassion within Owensboro. For Jasmine Grant and her children, this outpouring of support can be crucial for their emotional well-being and recovery, ensuring that the children experience some normalcy and joy during the holiday season despite their mother's ongoing health struggles. The involvement of local businesses like Kroger and B2Z Productions demonstrates corporate social responsibility and strengthens community ties, showcasing how collective action can make a profound difference in individual lives.
