In Heyworth, Illinois, scientists and farmers convened at the Illinois Soybean Association’s Agronomy Farm Field Day to discuss innovative agricultural techniques. Connor Sible, a Crop Sciences Assistant Research Professor at the University of Illinois, presented
research on tissue tests that help farmers ensure their crops receive adequate nutrients. This involves analyzing leaf samples from different parts of the plant to optimize fertilizer use. Additionally, the On-Farm Trial Network was highlighted, allowing farmers to host research plots on their land. This initiative aims to improve crop yields by experimenting with different agricultural practices, such as applying sulfur to soybeans early in the spring.
