The Prickles and Paws charity in Cornwall is nearing the completion of a new hedgehog rescue center, which is expected to significantly enhance its capacity to care for sick, injured, or orphaned hedgehogs.
The purpose-built facility, costing £290,000, is located on a plot of land at Carnanton near Newquay. The charity, which previously operated from the back garden of its founder, Diane South, has been able to expand thanks to a successful fundraiser that was match-funded. The new 'hogspital' is designed to be sustainable, featuring solar panels and battery storage to reduce its carbon footprint and operational costs.
