What's Happening?
TIXiMED, a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company, has initiated a Phase 1b Multiple Ascending Dose (MAD) study for TIX100, an investigational oral therapy for type 1 diabetes. The study aims to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of
TIX100, an oral inhibitor of thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP). The trial will involve 18 healthy subjects across three dose cohorts, with each cohort receiving TIX100 or a placebo twice daily for 28 days. This study follows a successful Phase 1a trial that demonstrated TIX100's safety and its ability to lower postprandial glucose levels without causing hypoglycemia. TIX100 targets the underlying mechanisms of diabetes by protecting beta cells and improving glucose control, offering a potential new oral treatment option for type 1 diabetes.
