What's Happening?
Austin Peay State University and the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center have been recognized with a 2026 Award of Excellence from the Tennessee Association of Museums for their collaborative student-driven walking tours in Clarksville. Led by Dr.
Cate LiaBraaten, assistant professor of history, the tours were designed to merge archival research with public engagement. Students from various disciplines participated, each creating and leading unique tours that highlighted Clarksville's diverse history, including topics such as Black history, Jewish American history, and women's history. The tours attracted 150 attendees and were praised for their educational value and community engagement.
