The NBA has partnered with Cosm to offer fans an immersive experience of the 2025-26 season games. Cosm, known for its innovative camera and production technology, will host select NBA games at its entertainment
centers, providing fans with a unique viewing experience. The partnership began in February 2023, with the first venue opening in Los Angeles' Hollywood Park in July 2024. Cosm has since expanded to Dallas and plans to open additional venues in Atlanta, Detroit, and Cleveland by 2026 and 2027. These venues feature 87-foot diameter, 12K+ LED domes that capture and distribute live games, offering fans views from various angles, including behind the bench and under the rim.
Why It's Important?
This partnership marks a significant shift in how sports fans can experience live games, potentially revolutionizing fan engagement. By leveraging advanced technology, Cosm provides an arena-like atmosphere that enhances the viewing experience beyond traditional broadcasts. This could lead to increased attendance at Cosm venues and greater fan interaction, benefiting both the NBA and Cosm. The initiative may also set a precedent for other sports leagues to explore similar partnerships, expanding the reach and accessibility of live sports events.
What's Next?
Cosm plans to open additional venues in major cities, including Atlanta, Detroit, and Cleveland, by 2026 and 2027. The Los Angeles venue will be a key location for NBA All-Star activities in February 2026, potentially drawing large crowds and media attention. As Cosm continues to expand, it may explore partnerships with other sports leagues or entertainment sectors, further diversifying its offerings and enhancing its market presence.
Beyond the Headlines
The partnership between the NBA and Cosm could have broader implications for the entertainment industry, highlighting the growing trend of immersive experiences. This collaboration may influence how other sectors, such as music and theater, approach audience engagement, potentially leading to new business models and technological innovations. Additionally, the success of this initiative could prompt discussions on the ethical use of technology in entertainment, particularly regarding privacy and data collection.
