What's Happening?
China is making significant strides in 6G technology development, with over 300 key technologies reserved after four years of trials. The IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group, led by Wang Zhiqin, is focusing
on communication, intelligence, computing power, data, and sensing as core elements. Recent breakthroughs include a full-spectrum tunable chip capable of high-speed transmission across a wide frequency range, and progress in terahertz transmission. China aims to complete 6G research requirements by the end of the year and begin commercial deployment by 2030. The development includes satellite-terrestrial integration and network architecture advancements.
Why It's Important?
China's advancements in 6G technology have the potential to reshape global telecommunications, offering faster and more reliable connectivity. The development of a full-spectrum tunable chip could simplify device design and reduce costs, making advanced communication technologies more accessible. As 6G promises to integrate AI and networks, it could lead to new applications in various sectors, including autonomous driving, smart cities, and remote healthcare. China's leadership in 6G could influence global standards and drive competition in the telecommunications industry, impacting international relations and economic dynamics.
