Jeffrey Call, the former chief of the Cape Vincent Ambulance Squad, has been arrested for allegedly embezzling over $157,000 from the organization. The state comptroller's office charged Call with second-degree grand larceny and falsifying business records.
The allegations include unauthorized salaries, bonuses, and vacation payouts for himself and others. The fraud was discovered by the CVAS board in 2024, leading to an investigation by state police and the comptroller's office. Call is no longer employed by CVAS and is due in court on August 18.
