Canada's federal government has announced a significant investment of CA$10.6 million to fund 14 electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure projects across the country. This initiative aims to install over 1,600 new chargers nationwide, enhancing the accessibility
of EV charging for Canadians. The announcement was made by Parliamentary Secretary Karim Bardeesy at the EV & Charging Expo in Toronto, representing Energy and Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson. Additionally, Natural Resources Canada is providing CA$1.1 million to extend Plug'n Drive's cross-country EV test drive tour, targeting smaller communities with lower EV adoption rates. This investment is part of Canada's broader Auto Strategy, which focuses on vehicle electrification, autonomous technologies, and battery supply chains. Since 2016, Canada has committed over CA$1.2 billion to EV charging and hydrogen refueling infrastructure.
