What's Happening?
The U.S. military is enhancing its radar evasion tactics with the ADM-160 Miniature Air-Launched Decoy (MALD) system, developed by Raytheon. This system creates the illusion of additional fighter jets on enemy radars, providing a strategic advantage in contested
airspace. The MALD system is launched from a carrier aircraft and uses a TJ150 turbojet engine to simulate the radar signature of full-sized aircraft. This technology is particularly effective when used alongside stealth aircraft like the F-35A Lightning II, increasing the chances of mission success by confusing enemy defenses.
