What's Happening?
A new regional tourism brand, Ohio Foothills, has been launched to promote a multi-county area in east-central Ohio as a unified travel destination. The brand covers 10 counties in Appalachian Ohio, including Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey,
Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, and Tuscarawas. Funded by the Governor’s Office of Appalachia and the Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association, the initiative aims to showcase the region's landscapes, history, and small-town charm. The brand will be used in digital marketing, social media, and visitor materials to highlight local attractions and encourage longer visitor stays.
Why It's Important?
The launch of the Ohio Foothills brand is a strategic move to enhance tourism-driven economic development in Appalachian Ohio. By promoting the region's unique attractions and experiences, the initiative seeks to increase visitor awareness and attract more tourists. This could lead to economic benefits for local businesses and communities, as tourism can drive revenue and create jobs. The cohesive branding effort also positions the region to better compete in Ohio's tourism market, potentially attracting investment and talent by showcasing the area's quality of life.
What's Next?
Throughout 2026, Ohio Foothills will roll out coordinated marketing efforts targeting both in-state and regional travelers. The initiative will focus on storytelling campaigns and digital outreach to effectively communicate the region's offerings. Local tourism professionals will continue to collaborate to ensure the brand's success and maximize its impact on the region's economy. The success of this initiative could serve as a model for other regions looking to boost tourism and economic development through strategic branding.
