French optical communications manufacturer Cailabs has announced a successful fundraising of €57 million ($66.9 million) to expand its production capacity for optical ground stations. The funding includes €37 million from the European Investment Bank and €20 million from various investors such as Definvest and NewSpace Capital. This development follows a successful demonstration of space-to-ground optical relay technology by Kepler Communications using Cailabs' ground stations. The company plans to increase its production from 10 to 50 ground stations annually by 2027, supported by a new production facility in France.
