What's Happening?
The Marcus Foundation has awarded a $3 million grant to the Jewish Fertility Foundation (JFF) in response to a significant increase in demand for in vitro fertilization (IVF) grants. This grant is the largest single donation in the history of JFF, which
was established in 2015. The funding will be used to cover operational costs such as employee salaries, benefits, and marketing expenses, as well as to increase the allocation of fertility grants. The foundation has experienced three spikes in demand for IVF grants, attributed to various factors including increased awareness and the use of assisted reproductive technology. Additionally, JFF is piloting a program to provide grants for gestational surrogacy, particularly benefiting LGBTQ+ Jewish families.
Why It's Important?
The grant from the Marcus Foundation is crucial for JFF as it addresses the growing need for fertility assistance within the Jewish community. By supporting operational costs and expanding grant allocations, the foundation can help more families achieve their goal of having children. This initiative not only supports individual families but also contributes to the broader goal of sustaining and growing the Jewish population. The focus on providing surrogacy grants for LGBTQ+ families highlights an inclusive approach, addressing the diverse needs of modern families. The financial support from the Marcus Foundation ensures that JFF can continue to meet the increasing demand and support families across the United States.
What's Next?
With the new funding, JFF plans to create a national fund to provide grants to those in need, regardless of their location. This move aims to ensure that families across the country can access fertility assistance without being limited by local donor bases. The foundation will continue to work with local donors and clinics to support its operations in 10 locations nationwide. As demand for fertility treatments continues to rise, JFF may seek additional partnerships and funding sources to further expand its reach and impact.
