The Training Ship Golden Bear has returned to Vallejo, California, concluding its final Summer Sea Term for the Cal Poly Maritime Academy. This marks the end of a significant chapter for the academy, as the Golden Bear has been its primary training vessel
for 30 years. During this time, it has served as a floating classroom, allowing thousands of cadets to gain practical experience at sea. The recent voyage covered 12,500 miles across the Pacific Ocean, with stops in San Diego, Tahiti, Fiji, and Honolulu. Cadets engaged in various activities, including standing watch, operating ship systems, and participating in emergency drills, all of which are essential for their future roles as maritime officers.
