What's Happening?
Aviat Networks, a leader in wireless transport and access solutions, has announced a partnership with Intracom Telecom to deliver Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology in North America. This collaboration aims to leverage high-capacity 28 and 39 GHz millimeter wave bands, conforming to FCC requirements for 5G use. Aviat will focus on select North American service providers to address the growing need for multi-Gigabit consumer and enterprise 5G use cases as an alternative to fiber, offering fiber-like performance without the associated costs and delays. Intracom Telecom's WiBAS G5 platform is the only commercially available point-to-multipoint FWA solution operating in these bands, capable of delivering over 22Gbps from the same base station site using Multi-User MIMO and Hybrid Massive Beamforming over distances of up to 5 miles.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between Aviat Networks and Intracom Telecom is significant as it addresses the increasing demand for high-capacity wireless solutions in North America, providing a cost-effective alternative to fiber. This development is crucial for telecom operators and enterprises seeking to expand broadband access and deliver multi-gigabit experiences over wireless networks. The collaboration is expected to accelerate broadband expansion, offering reliable high-speed connectivity and supporting the growing data demands of consumers and businesses. The strategic partnership highlights the importance of innovative wireless solutions in meeting the challenges of modern telecommunications infrastructure.
What's Next?
Aviat Networks plans to offer software solutions along with a comprehensive set of design, planning, deployment, and support services, leveraging its extensive presence in North America. The partnership is expected to help U.S. operators accelerate broadband expansion and deliver advanced wireless solutions.
