What's Happening?
The Einstein Probe has detected an unusual X-ray transient, named EP240305a, that does not fit into any known class of cosmic explosions. This event, recorded on March 5, 2024, involved two brief X-ray bursts separated by 200 seconds. Multi-wavelength
observations revealed a rapidly fading X-ray emission and a slowly declining radio emission, suggesting an evolving jet. Despite comparisons with known phenomena like tidal disruption events and gamma-ray bursts, the transient remains unexplained.
