The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has released its 16th annual Cancer Progress Report, highlighting significant advancements in cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship. The report notes the FDA's approval of 11
new cancer drugs in the past year, alongside new uses for five existing therapeutics, a wearable device for pancreatic cancer, an at-home HPV self-collection kit, and several AI-based tools for early detection. The AACR also urges the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to halt its proposed rule, 'Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance,' which could inject political considerations into funding decisions and jeopardize scientific integrity.
