Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) from Northumbria, Cleveland, and Durham have introduced a leaflet aimed at addressing misinformation surrounding immigration and asylum seekers in north-east England.
The document, produced in collaboration with the North East Migration Partnership, will be distributed to libraries and community centers. Cleveland's Matt Storey emphasized the importance of presenting factual information to counter myths about migrants, noting that only 0.3% of the region's population are asylum seekers. The initiative follows recent protests concerning illegal immigration, highlighting the need for community cohesion and safety.
