What's Happening?
The Ministry of Electronics and IT in India has approved 22 new proposals under the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), with a projected investment of Rs 41,863 crore. This initiative is expected to produce Rs 2,58,152 crore worth of electronics
and create 33,791 direct jobs. The approvals include major companies like Dixon, Samsung Display Noida Pvt Ltd, and Foxconn. The projects span across eight states, including Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, focusing on manufacturing 11 target segment products with cross-sectoral applications. These include mobile manufacturing, telecom, consumer electronics, and IT hardware. The initiative aims to strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce import dependence for critical electronic components.
