What's Happening?
Fincantieri's subsidiary WASS has won a contract to supply Black Shark Advanced torpedoes to the Indian Navy for its Scorpène-class submarines. The contract, valued at over €200 million, includes torpedoes, launch systems, maintenance equipment, and spare
parts. Deliveries are scheduled between 2028 and 2030, with production at WASS's facility in Livorno, Italy. This agreement strengthens Fincantieri's presence in India, a strategic market for naval and subsea defense growth. The Black Shark Advanced torpedo is already in service with several international navies, offering advanced capabilities and competitive life-cycle costs.
