Nathan Vassberg has been appointed as the chief of the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance (OSMA) at NASA. Vassberg has been serving as the acting chief since December 2025, demonstrating leadership and expertise in mission assurance and safety. His
career at NASA began in 1995 at the Johnson Space Center, where he worked as the International Space Station (ISS) safety lead. Over the years, he has held various positions, including chairing the ISS Safety Review Panel and serving as the Chief Safety and Mission Assurance Officer for NASA's Commercial Crew Program. Most recently, he was the Safety and Mission Assurance director for the Moon to Mars Program Office, overseeing safety efforts across six programs. Amit Kshatriya, NASA Associate Administrator, praised Vassberg's commitment to mission success and his qualifications for the role.
