What's Happening?
The New South Wales (NSW) government has awarded a $22 million grant to Tyree Transformers, a power and distribution transformer manufacturer based in the Southern Highlands. This funding is part of the Net Zero Manufacturing Initiative, a $480 million program
aimed at accelerating the renewable energy transition. The grant is expected to create over 100 construction jobs and 67 permanent positions. Other companies benefiting from the initiative include Optimal Renewable Gas, which will receive $20 million to convert agricultural waste into gas fuel, and Hiringa Refuelling Australia, which will receive $778,000 to establish hydrogen refueling stations. The initiative also includes a $15 million investment over four years to train a skilled workforce for the renewable energy sector.
