What's Happening?
The 22nd Korea International Welding & Cutting Automation Show, known as WELDING KOREA 2026 + AUTOMATION, is set to take place in Changwon, South Korea, from May 12 to 15, 2026. The event will feature 85 companies and 380 booths, focusing on innovative
solutions to address challenges in the manufacturing industry, such as skilled labor shortages. Key technologies on display include AI, collaborative robots, and 3D printing. The exhibition aims to provide practical solutions, such as AR simulators that reduce training costs by 75%, and digital gas savers to enhance profitability for small and medium manufacturers. The event will also host international buyers from eight countries, facilitating export opportunities for Korean enterprises.
Why It's Important?
The exhibition highlights the growing importance of AI and robotics in addressing labor shortages in the manufacturing sector. By showcasing technologies that allow non-skilled workers to perform high-quality tasks, the event underscores a shift towards automation and AI transformation in manufacturing. This is particularly significant for small and medium-sized enterprises in Korea, which face challenges in market expansion. The event's focus on cost-reduction solutions and export opportunities could enhance the global competitiveness of Korean manufacturers, potentially leading to increased economic growth and innovation in the region.
What's Next?
The exhibition will include various programs to discuss future manufacturing strategies, such as the Robot Welding Conference 2026 and the WAAM-based Metal Additive Manufacturing Symposium. These events aim to strengthen industry-academia-research networking and provide insights into next-generation manufacturing technologies. The participation of international buyers is expected to open new export routes for Korean companies, potentially leading to increased global market presence and economic benefits for the region.
