Donna DeVito, a teacher at Madison Elementary School in Hinsdale, has been awarded the 2026 Elliot Judd Outstanding Teacher Award by the Illinois Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages – Bilingual Education (ITBE). This award recognizes educators
who demonstrate exceptional commitment to teaching English to speakers of other languages. DeVito has been with Madison School for nine years, bringing extensive experience from her previous roles in bilingual and ESL classrooms. Her teaching approach is noted for its project-based learning, which includes initiatives like creating wristbands for refugees and sending postcards of hope to refugee children overseas.
