What's Happening?
Infosys Foundation USA has partnered with the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) to launch the Digital Workforce Innovation Program. This initiative, announced at NACCE’s
Annual Conference, will provide $250,000 in funding to six higher education institutions, including community colleges and historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). The program aims to equip students with digital skills and entrepreneurial thinking necessary for today’s technology-driven economy. Participating institutions will receive financial support, technical assistance, and access to Infosys Springboard, a digital learning platform offering over 11,000 interactive modules.
Why It's Important?
This initiative addresses the critical need for a digitally skilled workforce in the U.S., particularly in underserved communities. By focusing on community colleges and HBCUs, the program aims to bridge the digital divide and promote inclusivity in technology education. The collaboration between Infosys Foundation USA and NACCE highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in fostering innovation and workforce readiness. As technology continues to evolve, such programs are essential in preparing students for future careers, thereby enhancing economic opportunities and competitiveness.
What's Next?
Over the next 18 months, the selected institutions will implement the program, focusing on measurable outcomes and sustainability. The integration of SkillPointe, NACCE’s career exploration platform, with Infosys Springboard will provide students with clear career pathways. This initiative is expected to reach over 3,000 students, supporting their transition from education to employment in STEM fields. The success of this program could lead to its expansion, influencing similar initiatives across the country.
