The Port of San Diego is enhancing its capabilities to support green energy projects by implementing new infrastructure and technology. The port has introduced all-electric cranes, which provide the heaviest lift capability on the U.S. West Coast, enabling
the handling of cargo related to solar and wind power projects. Additionally, the port has secured grant funding to upgrade the electrical system at the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal to support zero-emissions cargo-handling equipment. A significant milestone was achieved with the commissioning of the MV Jean Anne for shore power, marking the first shore power connection for a domestic pure car/truck carrier in the U.S. The port is also collaborating with Skycharger to develop a zero-emissions truck charging hub, which will serve its marine cargo terminals and the regional freeway network.
