What's Happening?
Carisa Janes, founder of Hourglass Cosmetics, is launching a new beauty brand called 'Outside In'. The brand will debut with three products: a Silk Serum Foundation available in 25 shades, a Floral Reserve
Facial Oil, and an accompanying brush. Janes has owned the intellectual property for 'Outside In' since before selling Hourglass to Unilever. The new line emphasizes skincare-infused makeup and aims to reduce virgin plastic usage. The products will be available on the brand's direct-to-consumer website, with a physical store opening in New York's SoHo in spring 2026.
Why It's Important?
The launch of 'Outside In' marks Janes' return to the beauty industry, leveraging her experience and reputation to introduce a brand that combines skincare benefits with makeup. This move reflects the growing consumer demand for multifunctional beauty products that offer both aesthetic and health benefits. By focusing on sustainability and innovative formulations, 'Outside In' could attract environmentally conscious consumers and differentiate itself in a crowded market. Janes' previous success with Hourglass suggests potential for 'Outside In' to become a significant player in the premium beauty segment.
