The Leonardo AW249 Fenice (Phoenix) attack helicopter made its public flying debut at the ILA Berlin Airshow, running from June 10 to 14, 2026. Developed primarily for the Italian Army, the AW249 is also aimed at the global export market. This twin-engined,
twin-seat attack helicopter is designed to replace the Italian Army's AW129 Mangusta, offering enhanced performance, survivability, and offensive capabilities. The helicopter can carry up to 2,000 kg of weapons, including air-to-ground and air-to-air missiles, and features advanced digital communications and reduced infrared signature.
