What's Happening?
Donegal County Council has initiated the Energy Cloud Initiative, a project aimed at using surplus renewable electricity to provide free hot water to households in Donegal. This initiative, part of the Decarbonising
Zone programme, is supported by Perigus Energy, formerly known as Ørsted. The project involves installing smart devices in homes that automatically convert excess renewable energy into stored hot water. The initiative is currently live in a few homes and plans to expand across Donegal, focusing initially on the Decarbonising Zones of Carndonagh and Fál Carrach / Gort a Choirce. The project is a part of Donegal's Climate Action Plan and aims to demonstrate the practical benefits of renewable energy for local residents.
