Rajan Bijlani, a property developer based in north London, is showcasing his extensive collection of Modernist design, sculpture, and paintings at his home, Fonthill Pottery. Bijlani, who moved into the property in 2014, has renovated it to serve as a stylish
backdrop for his collection, which includes over 500 pieces. His collection primarily focuses on the works of Pierre Jeanneret, a key figure in the design of Chandigarh, India, alongside his cousin Le Corbusier. Bijlani's interest in Jeanneret's work was sparked by a visit to Chandigarh over 20 years ago. This year, Bijlani is staging an exhibition titled 'Electric Kiln,' which pairs works from his collection by Le Corbusier and Jeanneret with those by artists Emmanuel Cooper, Lucie Rie, and Frank Auerbach. The exhibition features Jeanneret's Minister's Desk from Chandigarh and a previously unseen Auerbach portrait of curator Catherine Lampert.
