What's Happening?
West Chester Township has imposed a development moratorium on its Cincinnati-Dayton and Ohio 747 corridor, a 3,200-acre area of commercial and industrial space. The township has commissioned MKSK, a Columbus-based land use planning and urban design firm,
to conduct a study in two phases. The first phase will focus on short-term planning and zoning needs, assessing existing infrastructure and future growth capacity. The second phase will explore future development options. The study aims to provide zoning recommendations and guide future development to ensure sustainable growth in the area.
Why It's Important?
The study is crucial for West Chester Township as it seeks to manage growth in one of its prime business districts. By pausing development and conducting a thorough analysis, the township aims to make informed decisions that will support sustainable economic growth. This approach could serve as a model for other regions facing similar growth challenges. The outcome of the study will impact local businesses, residents, and potential investors, as it will shape the future development landscape and influence economic opportunities in the area.
