What's Happening?
The French Air Force has successfully demonstrated the Airbus Defence & Space A400M tactical transport aircraft's capability in aerial firefighting. This marks the first real-world application of the A400M in such a role, utilizing a prototype Mk 2 roll-on,
roll-off mission kit. The operation involved dropping 20,000 liters of fire retardant in the southwest of France, creating containment lines to combat fast-moving fire fronts. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance France's national firefighting capabilities, involving collaboration with the Air Warfare Experimentation Center and the Directorate General for Civil Security and Crisis Management.
