Edinburgh-based consultancy New Gradient has developed an AI tool to enhance woodland monitoring, aiming to boost private investment in woodland creation and support the UK's net-zero targets. The tool automates digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification
(dMRV), replacing manual surveys with continuous monitoring. This innovation is expected to improve the accuracy and scale of data collection, providing insights into tree health and carbon value. The AI model, integrated into the Calterra platform, has shown promising results, significantly increasing the coverage and accuracy of woodland measurements.
