A Chicago-based nonprofit, Refugee Life Foundation, has donated a 15-seat van to the Center for the Protection of Childhood, an orphanage in Tulkarem, West Bank. This donation was made possible through
funds raised during the foundation's Humanity 5K event, which took place in April at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview. The van, a 2022 GMC Savana, is now used to transport approximately 30 children to and from school, significantly improving their access to education. Prior to this, the children relied on volunteer car-pooling, which was often insufficient, leading to missed school days. The van also serves other purposes, such as recreational outings and medical appointments, and helps navigate the logistical challenges posed by Israeli checkpoints.
