What's Happening?
OMV Petrom, in partnership with NewMed Energy, is set to commence an offshore exploration drilling campaign in Bulgaria's Han Asparuh block, located in the western Black Sea. The drillship Globetrotter I, operated by Noble Corporation, has arrived in Bulgaria to begin
drilling at the Vinekh-1 well, situated approximately 125 miles east of Varna. The drilling program, which includes two offshore wells, is expected to last about five months and has an estimated budget of €170 million (approximately $185 million). This initiative is part of OMV Petrom's strategy to strengthen its presence in the Black Sea, with operations also ongoing offshore Romania. The project underscores the company's commitment to regional energy security, utilizing advanced technology and high safety standards. Halliburton and SLB are providing integrated drilling services and well testing, respectively.
